Dam West Recreation Area is a campground and day-use place situated on the southern shore of Carlyle Lake, a high getaway for town-dwellers and families. Located 50 miles east of St. Louis, the region offers the peaceful retreat of a small metropolis combined with the grandeur of Illinois' largest man-made lake.
The area consists of an afternoon use region and campground, including 109 campsites (sixty four reservable, and 45 non-reservable).
